Question of the month

What criteria should you consider when choosing your anti-aging cream ?

Choosing the right skin care products is important. By turning to unsuitable skin care products, you run the risk of drying out, irritating or simply damaging your skin. When it comes to maintaining youthful-looking skin, the wrong choices can have the opposite effect to the one you’re looking for. So how do you choose the right skincare products for you ? Here are a few tips.

Analyze your skin and your skin age

Your skin, your needs, your choice

The first thing to do before choosing a skincare product is to analyze your real needs, freeing yourself from outside influences such as mass-market advertising by major cosmetics brands, promotional videos by influencers and even feedback from your friends. Brands want to sell. And your friends, caring for you though they may be, most likely don’t have the same skin and therefore the same needs as you.

How old is your skin ?

Choose a product adapted to your skin age, not your chronological age ! Your skin’s needs are defined by many variables, including your lifestyle, your health, your hormones and your diet. So observe your skin. Analyze its tone, elasticity and hydration, but also at the purity and size of pores, its distribution of sebum or pigmentation and the presence of the first fine wrinkles. If wrinkles are already present, look at them: dynamic wrinkles indicate strong mimic muscle. Static wrinkles, on the other hand, are usually caused by a lack of volume in certain parts of the face.

Moisturize young skin !

It’s not a good idea to use anti-aging creams developed for older skin on young skin. Not only will they have no anti-wrinkle effect, but you’ll be exposing yourself to irritation, redness and itching, drying out and weakening the structure of your skin. On the contrary, young skin usually renews itself at a normal rate, and you should opt for products that moisturize and nourish the skin.

Rely on science rather than marketing

Once you’ve analyzed your skin and identified the type of skincare you need, look at the studies that have been carried out on the effects of the product and on which selling points like “95% of women see a clear improvement in their wrinkles after 30 days” are based. In reality, these figures are often based not on scientific studies, but on observational studies or consumer surveys. So understand the difference between the two !

Scientifically tested cosmetics

A true scientific study establishes the efficacy of a cosmetic’s components in a double-blind test. This method is based on the fact that neither users nor observers know who has benefited from the product with the active ingredients. Measurements are therefore based on objective criteria such as digital analysis of the number and depth of wrinkles or skin elasticity.

Test it on your own skin

Has a skin care product convinced you that it’s right for your skin ? Now test it on yourself. Use it for at least 4 to 6 weeks, the time needed for your skin to integrate the effect. Of course, stop using it immediately in the event of any adverse reaction such as redness, swelling, dryness or severe flaking.

The most expensive cream isn’t always the best

Expensive cosmetics are not necessarily more effective than others. Don’t let yourself be swayed by the pleasant texture or fragrance, the gold packaging or the window displays in luxury boutiques. In the cosmetics market, you often pay for the brand name and the sleek presentation of the products, not for the efficacy of their contents or to cover the costs of serious studies.

Morphiya, proven effectiveness

When it comes to scientifically proven results, Morphiya products, co-created by Dr. Schlaudraff, are top of the class. Talk of “revolutionary skin care to slow down the aging process” is not just hot air. Morphiya’s active ingredients create exceptional stimulation of the skin’s cellular activity, helping to maintain healthy, elastic and thick skin, ensuring its youthful appearance. And all this with a simple regimen of care: a day cream and a night cream. That’s all.

Some final tips for caring for your skin

Avoid excess

Make sure you don’t overuse or misuse cosmetic products. For example, repeated overuse of cleansing products or “homemade peels” is not advisable, as you’ll diminish the skin’s barrier function, which already takes several hours to re-establish itself after a simple, light facial cleansing.

This applies also especially to skin with high sebum content or acne problems: drying out your skin often stimulates the production of sebum even more, as a defense mechanism, creating the opposite of the desired effect.

Creams aren’t everything

Prevention is your best ally. Take control of the factors that influence the quality of your skin and its age. Adopt a gentle cleansing routine for your skin, make sure you get enough sleep, eat properly, and so on. And obviously, avoid smoking or prolonged exposure to sunlight and UV rays without sunblock.

Sounds like “grandma’s” recipes. But it’s just right !
