Breast Augmentation with New B-Lite Implants

Concept Clinic is one of the five surgical reference centres in Europe to offer B-Lite implants as well as to teach other surgeons the use of this innovative technique in the field of breast implants.

On the basis of his patients’ results, Dr Schlaudraff is convinced that the B-Lite implants are the best implants available today for the new generation breast augmentation. The B-Lite implants are filled with a conventional cohesive silicone gel to which fully biocompatible borosilicate microspheres are added. This composition makes the implant up to 30% lighter than traditional implants. Doctors recommend them for their high level of safety as well as for reducing the weight of the breast implants they represent.

During the consultation, Dr Schlaudraff will examine your breasts and make a careful evaluation of the quality of your skin, fatty tissue, breast glands and pectoral muscle. He will measure the volume, breadth, shape and projection of the breasts. This detailed examination will allow you to choose the type of breast implants, their surface, their position and their shape and will help you to determine the results you desire.

The breast augmentation operation with the B-Lite implants takes about two hours and is performed under general anaesthesia in the Concept Clinic’s modern and fully equipped operating theatre, which meets with the most demanding healthcare standards of comfort, safety and hygiene. During the operation, Dr Schlaudraff makes a small incision either in the lower part of the areola (pigmented skin around the nipple) or the submammary groove to create the pocket where the implant will be inserted. The breast implant can be placed either under the mammary gland or under the pectoral muscle. After the insertion of the B-Lite breast implant, the incision is closed with absorbable sutures, and a protective dressing is applied.

The level of pain during the first few days after surgery varies among patients. The dressing is changed after 1 or 2 days, and the breasts are stabilised by wearing a sports bra for about 4 to 6 weeks. You can take a shower and travel a few days after the operation. You will be able to resume a light activity 2 to 3 days after surgery however you should avoid any kind of heavy lifting for 4 weeks. After one month you should be able to engage in sports. Treatment of scars will begin after 2 to 3 weeks.

The final result of your breast augmentation with the B-Lite implants will be seen after 8 to 12 weeks, once the swelling has gone down and the tissues have adapted to the breast implants. In the first year, you should avoid exposing the scar to the sun for 3 to 6 months.

The B-Lite technique

The B-Lite technique is the result of more than ten years of research and development as well as extensive preclinical and clinical testing. B-Lite silicone implants are manufactured in Germany by one of the market leaders, which has more than twenty-five years of experience and offers all the safety guarantees for breast implants. Numerous preclinical and clinical tests have demonstrated the excellent quality of B-Lite implants regarding safety and comfort compared to traditional implants. The B-Lite implants bear the CE marking and are approved by Swissmedic, the Swiss authority for the control and authorisation of therapeutic products. As a B-Lite referral centre, Concept Clinic is at your disposal to provide you with information about these new breast implants and support you in your steps to reshape your breasts.

Mammography

Contrary to popular belief, breast implants do not increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Before each procedure, either a mammogram or an X-ray of your breasts will be requested by Dr Schlaudraff to ensure that there is no contraindication. After the procedure, it is advisable to be also seen by your gynecologist, to carry out the usual screening tests used to detect breast cancer. During examination, you should mention the fact that you have breast implants so that your radiologist takes the necessary precautions.
