Abdominoplasty for men

Sagging of the skin in the abdominal region in men can be corrected with abdominoplasty, also called abdominal dermolipectomy. This procedure is intended to remove excess skin and fatty tissue and, if necessary, restore firmness in weakened or separated abdominal muscles. Storage of fat at the bottom of the stomach can be related to a rapid weight loss. Even with sport or dieting, it is difficult to remove this round stomach and regain the firmness of the skin. This is why abdominoplasty is the best procedure for those who wish to regain a flatter, tighter stomach and remould the contours of the abdomen. Your abdominals will be redefined, strengthened, and your figure will be radically changed.

During the consultation, the surgeon will discuss how you feel about your body and your expectations of abdominal dermolipectomy. He will then examine your body and carry out a careful assessment of the quality of your skin, fatty tissue and abdominal muscles.

This detailed examination will enable Dr Schlaudraff to decide which abdominoplasty technique is the most appropriate for you :

  • mini-abdominoplasty, for patients with minimum excess skin.
  • abdominoplasty with transposition of the navel, for patients with a significant excess of skin.

Abdominoplasty is carried out under a general anaesthesia, in Concept Clinic’s state-of-the-art theatre, which meets with the highest standards of comfort, safety and hygiene. This operation consists of removing the excess skin after making an incision depending on the abdominoplasty technique chosen. The operation takes one to three hours, depending on the amount of excess skin and any additional procedures carried out at the same time.

After abdominoplasty, patients are generally advised to stay at home for about one week for optimal recovery. You will be able to resume your usual low-level activities within three to four days after the surgery, but you should avoid standing fully upright during the first one to two weeks. Vigorous physical activity is strongly discouraged during the first two to four weeks after the operation as well as any kind of heavy lifting. The final result will be seen after eight to twelve weeks, once the skin has tightened.
