During your consultation, Dr Schlaudraff will examine your abdomen and carry out an assessment of the quality of your skin and fatty tissues, and the strength and position of the abdominal muscles. He will assess the extent of the diastasis of the rectus muscles and check for the presence of hernias which could, if necessary, be confirmed by ultrasound. You will then be advised as to the most appropriate type of treatment to care for your rectus diastasis.
Diastasis treatment is often combined with abdominoplasty as well as VASER Hi Def™ liposuction. The procedure takes place under a general anaesthesia, in Concept Clinic’s state-of-the-art surgical theatre, which meets with the highest standards of comfort, safety and hygiene. After mobilising the skin and fatty tissue up to the ribs or sternum, Dr Schlaudraff checks the position and shape of the rectus abdominal and oblique abdominal muscles. He then sutures these muscles back into their original midline position and retightens the tissue and, if necessary, excess skin is removed. The operation takes between two and four hours, depending on the work to be performed.
After abdominoplasty, we generally advise our patients to rest for three to four days for optimal recovery. You will then be able to resume light activities. However, demanding activities or sports are strongly discouraged during the first four weeks after the procedure as well as any kind of heavy lifting. The final result will be seen after eight to twelve weeks, once the skin has tightened. You will then be able to resume all physical activities. After the rectus diastasis treatment, you will rediscover your strong muscular belt, which will support your internal organs more effectively, and give your stomach a flatter, firmer appearance, revealing a more solid and defined musculature.
